Red Skelton's Recipe for the Perfect Marriage

For those of you old enough to remember Red Skelton, I think you will enjoy this e-mail. For those of you not old enough you will see what you missed!! Either way, his humor was always clean and he was a great entertainer. Here's a rerun of great one-liners from the man who was known for his clean humor. I hope you get a chuckle or two reading them once more.

1. Two times a week we go to a nice restaurant, have a little beverage, good food and companionship. She goes on Tuesdays; I go on Fridays.

2. We also sleep in separate beds. Hers is in California, and mine is in Texas.

3. I take my wife everywhere....but she keeps finding her way back.

4. I asked my wife where she wanted to go for our anniversary. "Somewhere I haven't been in a long time!" she said. So I suggested the kitchen.

5. We always hold hands. If I let go, she shops.

6. She has an electric blender, electric toaster and electric bread maker. She said "There are too many gadgets, and no place
to sit down!" So I bought her an electric chair.

7. My wife told me the car wasn't running well
because there was water in the carburetor.
I asked where the car was. She told me, "In the lake."

8. She got a mud pack, and looked great for two days. Then the mud fell off.

9. She ran after the garbage truck, yelling, "Am I too late for the garbage?" The driver said, "No, jump in!"

10. Remember: Marriage is the number one cause of divorce.

11. I married Miss Right. I just didn't know her
first name was Always.

12. I haven't spoken to my wife in 18 months
I don't like to interrupt her.

13. The last fight was my fault though. My wife asked, "What's on the TV?" I said, "Dust!"

Can't you just hear him say all of these?

I love it........these were the good old days
when humor didn't have to start with a four letter word. It was just clean and simple fun.

And he always ended his programs with the words, "God Bless."

Thanks, Mike.

Keep Unity

May the Lord lead your hearts into God's love and Christ's patience.

2 Thessalonians 3:5 (NCV)

"All people will know that you are my followers if you love each other" (John 13:35). Stop and think about this verse for a minute. Could it be that unity is the key to reaching the world for Christ?

If unity is the key to evangelism, shouldn't it have precedence in our prayers? Should we, as Paul said, "make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace" (Eph. 4:3 NIV)? If unity matters to God, then shouldn't unity matter to us? If unity is a priority in heaven, then shouldn't it be a priority on earth?

Nowhere, by the way, are we told to build unity. We are told simply to keep unity. From God's perspective there is but "one flock and one shepherd" (John 10:16). Unity does not need to be created; it simply needs to be protected.

How do we do that?... Does that mean we compromise our convictions? No. Does that mean we abandon the truths we cherish? No. But it does mean we look long and hard at the attitudes we carry.

With your very own hands you formed me; now breathe your wisdom over me.

Psalm 119:73 (THE MESSAGE)

Listen closely.  Jesus' love does not depend upon what we do for him.  Not at all.  In the eyes of the King, you have value simply because

you are.  You don't have to look nice or perform well.  Your value is inborn.

You are valuable...not because of what you do or what you have done, but simply because you are.

Remember that.

Room for Miracles

“I will not believe it until I see the nail marks in is hands and…put my hand into his side.”

John 20:25 (NCV)

In our world of budgets, long-range planning and computers, don’t we find it hard to trust in the unbelievable?  Don’t most of us tend to scrutinize life behind furrowed brows and walk with cautious steps?  It’s hard for us to imagine that God can surprise us.  To make a little room for miracles today, well, it’s not sound thinking.

We make the same mistake that Thomas made: we forget that “impossible” is one of God’s favorite words.

How about you?  How is your imagination these days?  When was the last time you let some of your dreams elbow out your logic?  When was the last time you imagined the unimaginable?…Has it been awhile since you claimed God’s promise to do “more than we can ask or imagine?” (Eph. 3:20)

Appreciation Letter from Weldon

Here's a letter from Weldon, the Kenyan attending Dartmouth whose family needed a home.

It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of appreciation to you all!

It has been a long journey walked and big steps made towards settling my family. It never occurred to me that this was going to happen before the highly dreaded day - 23rd December. I had always prayed that I may not see my family kicked out of their present place of residence. I used to go to the library and while at the library I would go through my bank account online and feel so sorry that frequently I would see 147$ on my account. Now, I knew I needed way more than that to enable my family in Kenya to occupy the house and the plot. I would start counting the number of hours there were to complete the month without considering the fact that I had finals and major exams and papers coming up and due. I wanted to raise something substantial to enable my family to stay in the house.

One time while seated, I felt tears rolling down my cheek and questions rising in my mind, “ Why, God?” but a voice would always say to me,” Keep moving, don’t stop, it is going to be alright!” That was when I would look around and smile as though the voice was real. In fact, I would wake up as though I was sleeping and remember that I had homework due the first thing in the morning when I arrive in class. No one could guess that I was having such a burden to carry because I could smile with the rest in class, make jokes and in fact ask so many questions.

When October approached, I was one time on the green, I counted my fingers and something was telling me, “December is here, boy!” I was scared and overwhelmed! I decided to let it out and although I did not think anything would be raised, I just wanted prayers so that I may not go nuts when I hear that my parents had been kicked out of the house and are back on the streets and squatter life. I went to class and since I heard that Pastor Ken was interested in hearing more about my concerns, I never hesitated to tell him all about the project. Only that I wasn’t sure of the exact amount but had guessed 3500 which later skyrocketed to 10000, then back to 5500 after negotiating with the landlord. I never knew that anything to that effect was going to happen and in fact the trust was what I wasn’t sure whether I was going to be able to instill in everybody- given you never know exactly what the project entails until it is fully described.

I had to look for help from a friend of mine- Violaine Mitchell - in Canada who had seen my parents and the whole family. It all started appearing hopeful when she assured me that all was going to be alright, especially working together with Ken to ensure all went well. This assurance enabled me to focus on my class work and I remember telling Pastor Ken that his help was the best support for me in class.

I am truly touched that even though you know me not and in fact we haven’t met anywhere with most of you, you were able to trust my cry for help. Thank you for being soft-hearted and I truly cherish your help. I cannot repay you what you did for my family neither can I choose the best word to express my deeply ingrained appreciation but I pray that God may bless you and your families even as you get to help more in the society. I know this may not and will not be the last time I am asking for your help but thank you and thank you so much. May God bless you all that one day we may meet as we share the fruits of our humility and contribution towards helping the needy in our midst. May you all have a merry Christmas and remember that you gave the best gift ever this Christmas to my family!

Yours faithfully,

God’s Great Gifts

Thanks be to God for his gift that is too wonderful for words.
2 Corinthians 9:15 (
NCV)

Why did he do it? A shack would have sufficed, but he gave us a mansion. Did he have to give the birds a song and the mountains a peak? Was he required to put stripes on the zebra and the hump on the camel?... Why wrap creation in such splendor? Why go to such trouble to give such gifts?

Why do you? You do the same. I've seen you searching for a gift. I've seen you stalking the malls and walking the aisles. I'm not talking about the obligatory gifts. . . . I'm talking about that extra-special person and that extra-special gift. . . . Why do you do it?... You do it so the heart will stop. You do it so the jaw will drop. You do it to hear those words of disbelief, "You did this for me?"

That's why you do it. And that is why God did it. Next time a sunrise steals your breath or a meadow of flowers leaves you speechless, remain that way. Say nothing and listen as heaven whispers, "Do you like it? I did it just for you."

RoughRider Baseball is the Best!

For a good time, and a fan-friendly atmosphere, you can't beat Frisco RoughRider BASEBALL!!!

Here's Steve Murphy, Deuce, and Neftali Feliz:

Two Babies in the Manger

Author Unknown

In 1994, two Americans answered an invitation from the Russian Department of Education to teach morals and ethics (based on biblical principles) in the public schools. They were invited to teach at prisons, businesses, the fire and police departments and a large orphanage. About 100 boys and girls who had been abandoned, abused, and left in the care of a government-run program were in the orphanage. They relate the following story in their own words:

"It was nearing the holiday season, 1994, time for our orphans to hear, for the first time, the traditional story of Christmas. We told them about Mary and Joseph arriving in Bethlehem. Finding no room in the inn, the couple went to a stable, where the baby Jesus was born and placed in a manger."

Throughout the story, the children and orphanage staff sat in amazement as they listened. Some sat on the edges of their stools , trying to grasp every word.

Completing the story, we gave the children three small pieces of cardboard to make a crude manger. Each child was given a small paper square, cut from yellow napkins I had brought with me. No colored paper was available in the city. Following instructions, the children tore the paper and carefully laid strips in the manger for straw. Small squares of flannel [cut from a worn-out nightgown an American lady was throwing away as she left Russia, were used for the baby's blanket. A doll-like baby was cut from tan felt we had brought from the United States.

The orphans were busy assembling their manger as I walked among them to see if they needed any help. All went well until I got to one table where little Misha sat. He looked to be about 6-years-old and had finished his project.

As I looked at the little boy's manger, was startled to see not one, but two babies in the manger.

Quickly, I called for the translator to ask the lad why there were two babies in the manger. Crossing his arms in front of him and looking at this completed manger scene, the child began to repeat the story very seriously.

For such a young boy, who had only heard the Christmas story once, he related the happenings accurately -- until he came to the part where Mary put the baby Jesus in the manger. Then Misha started to ad-lib.

He made up his own ending to the story as he said, "And when Mary laid the baby in the manger, Jesus looked at me and asked me if I had a place to stay I told him I have no mamma and I have no papa, so I don't have any place to stay. Then Jesus told me I could stay with Him. But I told him I couldn't, because I didn't have a gift to give Him like everybody else did.

"But I wanted to stay with Jesus so much, so I thought about what I had that maybe I could use for a gift. I thought maybe if I kept Him warm, that would be a good gift.

"So I asked Jesus, 'If I keep You warm, will that be a good enough gift?' And Jesus told me, 'If you keep Me warm, that will be the best gift anybody ever gave Me.' So I got into the manger, and then Jesus looked at me and He told me I could stay with Him -- for always."

As little Misha finished his story, his eyes brimmed full of tears that splashed down his little cheeks. Putting his hand over his face, his head dropped to the table and his shoulders shook as he sobbed and sobbed. The little orphan had found Someone who would never abandon nor abuse him, Someone who would stay with him -- for always!

And the Americans? They had learned the lesson they had come there to teach-- that it is not what you have in your life, but Who you have in your life that really counts. We all should give thanks for the people that "keep us warm" in life; and for all of God's many blessings to us: freedom from want, life, love, togetherness, and for the enduring love of Jesus Christ, the one person who keeps us warm and safe for always.

"And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Now to our God and Father be the glory forever and ever. Amen." Philippians 4:19-20 [NASB]

The Shepherd Leads

He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.

Psalm 23:2 (NKJV)

In the second verse of the Twenty-third Psalm, David the poet becomes David the artist.  His quill becomes a brush, his parchment a canvas, and his words paint a picture.  A flock of sheep on folded legs, encircling a shepherd.  Bellies nestled deep in the long shoots of grass.  A still pond on one side, the watching shepherd on the other.  “He makes me to like down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.”

Note the two pronouns preceding the two verbs.  He makes me…He leads me…

Who is the active one?  Who is in charge?  The shepherd.  The shepherd selects the trail and prepares a pasture.  The sheep’s job—our job—is to watch the Shepherd.

"The Twelve Days of Christmas"

A version you've never heard before. Great!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Fe11OlMiz8

Thanks, Tracie.

Just P.U.S.H.

A man was sleeping one night in his cabin when suddenly his room filled with light, and God appeared. The Lord told the man he had work for him to do, and showed him a large rock in front of his cabin. The Lord explained that the man was to Push against the rock with all his might...

So, this the man did, day after day. For many years he toiled from sunup to sundown, his shoulders set squarely against the cold, massive surface of the unmoving rock, pushing with all his might!

Each night the man returned to his cabin sore and worn out, feeling that his whole day had been spent in vain. Since the man was showing discouragement, the adversary (Satan) decided to enter the picture by placing thoughts into the weary mind: (He will do it every time)!

'You have been pushing against that rock for a long time and it hasn't moved.' Thus, he gave the man the impression that the task was impossible and that he was a failure. These thoughts discouraged and disheartened the man.

Satan said, 'Why kill yourself over this? Just put in your time, giving just the minimum effort; and that will be good enough.'That's what the weary man planned to do, but decided to make it a matter of Prayer and to take his troubled thoughts to The Lord.

'Lord,' he said, 'I have labored long and hard in Your Service, putting all my strength to do that which You have asked. Yet, after all this time, I have not even budged that rock by half a millimeter.

What is wrong? Why am I failing?'

The Lord responded compassionately, 'My friend, when I asked you to serve Me and you accepted, I told you that your task was to push against the rock with all of your strength, which you have done .

Never once did I mention to you that I expected you to move it. Your task was to push. And now you come to Me with your strength spent, thinking that you have failed.

But, is that really so? Look at yourself. Your arms are strong and muscled, your back shiny and brown; your hands are callused from constant pressure, your legs have become massive and hard.

Through opposition you have grown much, and your abilities now surpass that which you used to have. True, you haven't moved the rock. But your calling was to be Obedient and to push and to exercise your Faith and trust in My Wisdom. That you have done. Now I, my friend, will move the rock.' At times, when we hear a word from God, we tend to use our own intellect to decipher what He Wants, when actually what God wants is just simple obedience and faith in Him.

By all means, exercise the Faith that moves mountains, but know that It is still God Who moves The Mountains. When everything seems to go wrong..........................Just P.U.S.H.

When the job gets you down..................................Just P.U.S.H.

When people don't do as you think they should.............Just P.U.S.H.

When your money is 'gone' and the bills are due...........Just P.U.S.H.

When people just don't understand you ....................Just P.U.S.H.

P = Pray

U = Until

S = Something

H = Happens

Pass this on to all your loved ones and friends who may need it; they may get it just in time. 'Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.'

Friends are like quiet angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly. May God Bless You.

Increase the Peace

Just Hold ON!!!

BCS Declares Germany Winner

For those of you who have followed this year's college football season, and in light of the most recent BCS rankings, this is classic!

************************************************************************
***************************************************

BCS DECLARES GERMANY WINNER OF WORLD WAR II US Ranked 4th After determining the Big-12 championship game participants the BCS computers were put to work on other major contests and today the BCS declared Germany to be the winner of World War II.

"Germany put together an incredible number of victories beginning with the annexation of Austria and the Sudetenland and continuing on into conference play with defeats of Poland, France, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Belgium and the Netherlands.

Their only losses came against the US and Russia; however considering their entire body of work--including an incredibly tough Strength of Schedule-- our computers deemed them worthy of the #1 ranking."

Questioned about the #4 ranking of the United States the BCS commissioner stated "The US only had two major victories--Japan and Germany. The computer models, unlike humans, aren't influenced by head-to-head contests--they consider each contest to be only a single, equally-weighted event."

German Chancellor Adolph Hiter said "Yes, we lost to the US; but we defeated #2 ranked France in only 6 weeks." Herr Hitler has been criticized for seeking dramatic victories to earn 'style points' to enhance Germany's rankings.

Hitler protested "Our contest with Poland was in doubt until the final day and the conditions in Norway were incredibly challenging and demanded the application of additional forces."

The French ranking has also come under scrutiny. The BCS commented " France had a single loss against Germany and following a preseason #1 ranking they only fell to #2."

Japan was ranked #3 with victories including Manchuria, Borneo and the Philippines.

Thanks, Snuffy.

Breakfast At McDonald's

Good one, Jeanie.

"What you are will show in what you do. "

Thomas Edison

A Return is Requested....You'll see why.

Breakfast at McDonald's

This is a good story and is true, please read it all the way through until the end! (After the story, there are some very interesting facts!):

I am a mother of three (ages 14, 12, 3) and have recently completed my college  degree.

The last  class I had to take was Sociology.

The teacher  was absolutely inspiring with the qualities that I wish every human  being had been graced with.

Her last  project of the term was called, 'Smile.'

The class was  asked to go out and smile at three people and document their  reactions.

I am a very  friendly person and always smile at everyone and say hello anyway. So, I  thought this would be a piece of cake,

literally.

Soon after we  were assigned the project, my husband, youngest son, and I went out to  McDonald's one crisp March morning.

It was just  our way of sharing special playtime with our son.

We were  standing in line, waiting to be served, when all of a sudden everyone  around us began to back away, and then

  even my  husband did.

I did not  move an inch... an overwhelming feeling of panic welled up inside of me  as I turned to see why they had moved.

As I turned  around I smelled a horrible 'dirty body' smell, and there standing  behind me were two poor homeless men.

As I looked  down at the short gentleman, close to me, he was  'smiling'

His beautiful  sky blue eyes were full of God's Light as he searched for  acceptance.

He said,  'Good day' as he counted the few coins he had been  clutching.

The second  man fumbled with his hands as he stood behind his friend. I realized the  second man was mentally challenged and the blue-eyed gentleman was his  salvation.

I held my tears as I stood there  with them.

The young lady at the counter  asked him what they wanted.

He said, 'Coffee is all Miss'  because that was all they could afford. (If they wanted to sit in the  restaurant and warm up, they had to buy something. He just wanted to be  warm).

Then I really felt it - the  compulsion was so great I almost reached out and embraced the little man  with the blue eyes.

That is when I noticed all eyes in the

restaurant were set on me, judging

my every action.

I smiled and asked the young lady  behind the counter to give me two more breakfast meals on a separate  tray.

I then walked around the corner to  the table that the men had chosen as a resting spot. I put the tray on  the table and laid my hand on the blue-eyed gentleman's cold  hand.

He looked up at me, with tears in  his eyes, and said, 'Thank you.'

I leaned over, began to pat his  hand and said, 'I did not do this for you. God is here working through  me to give you hope.'

I started to cry as I walked away  to join my husband and son. When I sat down my husband smiled at me and  said, 'That is why God gave you to me, Honey, to give me  hope..'

We held hands for a moment and at  that time, we knew that only because of the Grace that we had been given  were we able to give.

We are not church goers, but we  are believers.

That day showed me the pure Light  of God's sweet love.

I returned to college, on the last  evening of class, with this story in hand.

I turned in 'my project' and the  instructor read it.

Then she looked up at me and said,  'Can I share this?'

I slowly nodded as she got the  attention of the class.

She began to read and that is when  I knew that we as human beings and being part of God share this need to  heal people and to be healed.

In my own way I had touched the  people at McDonald's, my son,the instructor, and every soul that shared the classroom on the last night I spent as a  college student.

I graduated with one of the  biggest lessons I would ever learn:

UNCONDITIONAL ACCEPTANCE.

Much love and compassion is sent to each and every person who may read this and learn how to

LOVE PEOPLE AND USE THINGS -

NOT LOVE THINGS AND USE PEOPLE.

There is an Angel sent to watch over you.

In order for her to work, you must pass this on to the people you want watched over.

An Angel wrote:

Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart

To handle yourself, use your head..

To handle others, use your heart.

God Gives every bird it's food, but He does not throw it into its nest.

Send it back, you'll see why !

A box of gold

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

With a secret inside

that has never been  told

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

This box is priceless

but as I  see

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

The treasure inside is

precious to me

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Today I share this

treasure with  thee

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

It's the treasure of

friendship you've

given me.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

If this comes back to you

then you'll have a  friend

for life but, if  this

becomes deleted, you  are

not a  friend.

Send this to everyone you

consider a  friend!
