This is from a church friend and Sunday School teacher from First Baptist, Plano.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
I want to share these thoughts with you:
- In reference to Matthew 5:13-16, we dare not let our church become a "salt-shaker", where all the "salt" just sits on the table and is not spread out all over our neighborhood and world, and we dare not keep all our "light" inside the walls of the church.
- Here is an actual church "purpose statement" that I really like. My prayer is that it will describe our church.
Imagine a group of surrendered and transformed people - who love God and others. They understand that life is not about them, but all about Jesus.
They want their heart for their city to be Jesus's heart for their city.
They are seed throwers, fire starters, hope peddlers, grace givers, risk takers, dreamers.
They empower the poor, strengthen the weak, embrace the outcast, seek the lost.
They serve together, play together, worship together, live life together.
They believe that small things done with great love will change their city and the world.
They are us.
